The Book

Title: Two Truths and a Lie

Series: PRG Investigations
Blurb
One year ago, I became a missing person. I left everything behind—family, friends, school. It seemed like a good idea at the time. My only option, really, until I realised running from a police officer isn’t as easy as I thought it would be.
It’s been exactly three-hundred and sixty-five days since I left home, but I’m finally ready to take the step I should have taken a year ago. I’m done hiding. I’m done running. I’m going to take my life back.
It was supposed to be easy. A meeting with Jason Pierce, a private investigator, was set up for me. All I had to do was go to him, let him do his thing, and then I could go home, or so I thought.
That is, until I met Jason and things got … complicated.

My Review
So as we all know, when browsing through iBooks the cover is the one thing that gets your attention enough to read the blurb. This cover just drew me in like a siren calling ships to the shore! Not only are the colours gorgeous but the font and blurring of ‘A Lie’ really creates a feeling of mystery and excitement.
In all my time reading romance/erotica, I have never read anything about missing people or private investigators and the promise of a strong police officer saving a broken young woman had me hitting download before I could even think about it!
Let’s start with what I loved about this book first;
- The female character was strong. I’ve read many books under this genre that have written the female protagonist to be broken, weak, inexperienced or not complete in some way. They usually then go onto show their journey of becoming strong and resilient. I know this makes for good reading but I’m honestly just bored of it and meeting Elena was so refreshing because she was confident and strong to begin with!
- Their love felt organic. With standalone novels, the plot can move very quickly and I often find myself left behind wondering when on earth the main characters connected. However, with this book, I felt as if I was right alongside them and their relationship wasn’t forced or rushed. In addition to this, the writer really got across the strong bond that Elena, Jase, Vance and Wes had and it was lovely to read.
- Multiple viewpoints. I’ve never really been a fan of multiple viewpoints because I often felt like the writer was trying to fit too much into one book and usually found that important chapters were written from the viewpoint I preferred the least. However, I have actually grown to enjoy the extra depth it gives to the characters and really enjoyed it in this book.

I don’t have much negative to say about this book but there are a couple of things I would’ve loved more of;
- Relationships. Although I felt her relationship with Jase was beautiful, I think the story would’ve benefited from a little more depth in her other relationships. There wasn’t much with her parents or a best friend which would have made her feel more substantial as a character. Her relationship with Mr Chapman was also downplayed and I would’ve loved a chapter or two on how they bonded so well.
- Year in hiding. I felt as though the year she spent running and hiding wasn’t referred to as much as I would’ve expected it to have been. She must have had some bad or scary experiences whilst essentially being homeless but instead the year was somewhat brushed under the rug. I would’ve enjoyed having flashbacks dotted throughout the book, maybe something her and Jase could’ve connected over.

I’m really glad that I found this little gem of a book. Despite wanting more depth to the characters relationships, I really enjoyed the plot, the multiple viewpoints and the spice throughout the book. I would recommend Two Truths And A Lie to someone who’s looking for something a little different but entirely sexy to read cuddled up by the fire.
